For over 30 years, Aztec Plumbing & Drains has been the trusted choice for reliable plumbing service in Southwest Florida. Here’s why:
When you choose us, you select a team dedicated to delivering exceptional service every time.
We recently had a local business call in complaining “the toilets were gurgling.” Gurgling toilets, or bubbling toilets, are usually a sign that the drain not only needs to be cleared but that the problem causing the drain to clog needs to be fixed. You see it’s easy for a plumber to come and “clear the drain,” but can they fix the problem causing the clogged drain and ensure that it never clogs due to this same issue again?
That’s where a sewer and 24-hour drain expert comes in handy. Aztec Plumbing & Drains is no stranger to clearing and repairing drains properly. So when this commercial client called in with these symptoms, we sent our team of plumbing experts out right away to diagnose the situation.
We use our sewer camera to locate the underlying issue. The camera is at the end of the line and it is connected to a video monitor that allows you to watch as it goes through the lines. It is an amazing device that actually allows us to go up to 100 ft into the drain line. This equipment can be a great tool because it allows us to identify the plumbing problem right away and show the customer first hand what is causing the problem.
In this particular case, the drain was clogged due to the pipe being bowed. Water cannot flow upward so this area of the drain was just collecting everything that exited the building and could not drain completely.
We located where the bowed pipe was and had the property flagged for utilities. We then marked out and cut the asphalt to be able to excavate the area. We were very careful of any other utilities in the area, as we did not want to cause any further issues.
Our crew cut and removed the damaged pipe, then tamped the soil so the new section of pipe was bedded properly so this problem would never happen again. Proper bedding and back filling ensures that the pipe will not move or bend.
To do this we need to test every line. With the camera in the line, we flushed each toilet and ran every faucet in the building to visually verify that everything was flowing smoothly through the line. Once this was complete, we cleaned up the work area, repaired the asphalt, and completed the job.

How does a drain video inspection work? We use a flexible camera that navigates through your pipes, providing a live video feed to identify problems.
What issues can a video inspection detect? It can detect clogs, cracks, misaligned pipes, root intrusions, and other obstructions that aren’t visible from the surface.
Is a video inspection worth it? Yes, it’s a fast, non-invasive method that accurately diagnoses plumbing issues, saving you from unnecessary repairs.
Can it help with hurricane preparation? Absolutely. Inspecting your pipes before the hurricane season helps prevent unexpected failures during heavy rainfall.
How long does the inspection take? Typically, it takes about an hour, depending on the size and complexity of your plumbing system.
Commercial video inspections offer additional benefits to your property that you may not even be aware of. Consider restaurants and bars. The soda and alcohol drain lines in these businesses often break down over time because of the acid in carbonated beverages. These channels are also easily damaged by sugar and grease and can eat through the bottom of pipes. Then there are broken sewer and storm drain systems to consider, which may wreak havoc on your property if left unattended.
Luckily, our high-tech equipment at Aztec Plumbing & Drains is capable of identifying a lost list of potential issues with your commercial facility. Using our robotic, remote-controlled camera, we will tunnel deep into virtually any pipe or storm system to prevent you from having to do expensive repairs and installations that can shutter your business for weeks at a time. Remember, as business owners ourselves, we understand the need for efficient and effective maintenance, so employees can feel comfortable and get back to work in a timely manner.
Realistically, 90% of the time there is a reason your drain is clogged; simply clearing the line to get it flowing again is not necessarily going to fix the problem. Identifying why the drain is clogging and repairing the issue is the only way to correctly repair a drain. Be sure your plumber is identifying what is causing your plumbing issue and not just offering a band aide to mask the real issue.
Don’t wait to get your commercial or residential property the care it deserves, call Aztec Plumbing & Drains today for all your plumbing needs.
